The holidays are fast approaching! Regardless if you’re hosting family, having a quiet week, or throwing a holiday party – it’s always nice to get your Ottawa apartment feeling a little festive. Apartments are limited by space, but this doesn’t have to compromise your decorations this year. Just read these tips to help!

1) Raise your tree!

Who says you need a big tree in your living room anyway? Simply buy a smaller tree and place it on a stand to save floor space. Also, if you prefer artificial trees, this will also save the hassle of trying to put it together!

2) Wreath it up

Wreaths are a holiday staple that hardly take up any space at all and immediately give a festive feel to your apartment. This year, try a succulent wreath! These thick, plant wreaths are environmentally friendly and will last much longer than the short holiday season!

3) Swap in some holiday décor

Instead of adding a bunch of festive decorations to your apartment, simply swap some of your regular staples for festive ones to reduce clutter. Do you have flowers in your apartment? Trade them for some festive pinecones or a pine branch. Do you have some neutral pillows on the couch? Swap them for some holiday pillows!

4) Decorate doors and windows

When decorating small spaces, doors and windows always seem to go underrated! Go all out with the door to your apartment to let guests know your place is where the party is at. Wrap your whole door in Christmas paper and hang up a wreath for an exaggerated holiday feel. Then hang up some holiday ornaments from your windows and you’ll have all the basics covered.

 5) Focus on the senses

People can often get a little carried away when decorating for the holidays with physical aspects, such as knick knacks, a large tree, excessive ornaments – you get the point! To save space this year, it’s a great idea to focus on the senses. Set the mood with festive tunes, scented candles, and an abundance of tasty holiday treats.
