Canada Day in the capital is always a very special event. We’re extra lucky this year, with the holiday falling on a Monday, giving us a long weekend to relax and take in all that Ottawa has to offer. Here are some events you shouldn’t miss out on.
Canada Day at Major’s Hill Park - June 30th - July 1st
Join the fun and celebrate Canadian culture, heritage and sports at Major’s Hill Park. The festivities will feature a variety of performances, demonstrations, and exhibits. You can be both spectator and participant with lots of activities for everyone. Catch shows by Said The Whale, Tyler Shaw and Tokyo Police Club! All ages welcome.

Canada Day Road Races - July 1st
If you’re looking to stay active this weekend or cheer on others who are, The Scotiabank Canada Day Road Races will be taking place on July 1st. As part of the Run Ottawa race series, this is one of the most popular Canada Day events.
Race day features fun, friendly, and competitive 5K and 10K events, a 1K Fun Run for kids between 5 and 11, and a 100 Metre Tot Trot for children 4 and under. It sounds like the perfect way for runners of every age to start Canada’s birthday on the right foot!

Canada Day Celebrations at Parliament Hill - July 1st
A classic Canada Day celebration that every Ottawan has experienced. If you have guests visiting that want to experience everything the capital has to offer on July 1st, you can’t go wrong with a day on the hill! With sets from Kaytranada, The Strumbellas, Coeur de Pirate, and K’Naan (just to name a few) you’ll be singing along to more than just O’Canada. The festivities close off with fireworks at 10 pm so make sure to show up early to get a good spot!
