Don’t let apartment living stop you from spreading Christmas cheer! Decorate your home like never before with the help of these affordable and aesthetic décor tips:

Try a Tiny Tree

If you celebrate Christmas, then you know that a standard piece of décor in your home is likely a Christmas tree. In order to accommodate the size of your apartment, opt for a small tree that can be put on a counter (to save floor space) or fit in an empty corner. Additionally, properties have restrictions concerning the use of real trees inside their buildings (as they can result in a mess and may not accommodate the allergy restrictions of other tenants). If this is the case in your building, you may want to consider purchasing an artificial tree. This can be an excellent option as they can be deconstructed and stored in a small space.

Bonus Tip: Visit stores after Christmas to find good deals on artificial Christmas trees and other seasonal décor!

Multi-Purpose Décor

As with most furniture in a small apartment, it is practical to choose items that can serve more than one purpose (in order to maximize space). For example, install Christmas colored fairy lights around your home to serve as mood-setting lighting as well as festive décor. Another great option is to choose Christmas themed blankets and throw pillows to place in your living room. These will serve as a way to keep yourself and your guests warm and toasty throughout the cold winter as well as adding a touch of holiday spirit to your living area. Christmas candles are another excellent way to decorate your home without breaking the bank or overwhelming your apartment. These take up little space in your apartment (think coffee table surfaces or mantles) but can fill the air with the comforting scents of the holiday season.

Décorate Permanent Fixtures

Finally, instead of adding fixtures to your already furnished apartment, take this opportunity to accentuate the permanent fixtures that you already have in your home. Garland can be an excellent way to spice up curtain rods, railings, and door frames. Additionally, centerpieces placed on empty surfaces within your home don’t take up unnecessary floor space while still adding that special touch. Finally, try accentuating light fixtures within your apartment with Christmas balls or garland.

Bonus Tip: Swap plants found throughout your apartment with holiday-themed flowers such as poinsettias, amaryllis, or Christmas cacti.
